Let's undo your reconciliation, clearly_not_an_accountant. You got two options for this.
Option 1: You'll want to open the account in your Chart of Accounts. Then, edit each reconciled transaction by changing the R (reconciled) mark to C (cleared) or blank. You want to do this to all transactions within the period in concern.
The article about undoing a reconciliation has more details about this.
Option 2: If you have an accountant who uses QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can add them as a user. They will be able to undo your reconciliation all at once using their accountant tools.
Is there anything you want to ask aside from undoing your reconciliation? Let me know.
This is for 150 transactions.
Do I have to really do 600 clicks in order to do this (1 to change R to C. 1 to change C to blank. 1 to save. 1 to confirm) without involving my accountant?
Hello there, clearly_not_an_accountant,
Yes, you'll want to do each transaction manually. As what my colleague JessT mentioned those are the only options you have. You can change it from R-C or R-Blank directly. You don't have to go through every option before saving it.
You can refer to the steps provided above to do it.
Please let me know if you have other questions.
My accountant says they cannot undo a reconciliation all at once.
What steps do they take to do this?
Hi clearly_not_an_accountant,
As JessT mentioned, if you have an accountant who uses QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can add them as a user and they will be able to undo your reconciliation all at once. Since you've stated that your accountant cannot undo a reconciliation, I want to clarify where your accountant has been added to your account.
