In QuickBooks, you can only unreconcile one transaction at a time. If you need to start over, I'd suggest reaching out to your accountant. Since you've mentioned that you don't have access to your accountant, you'll want to find an accounting advisor near you through this link. They can undo the entire period at once using QuickBooks Online Accountant.
Here's how to invite your accountant:
- Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Manage Users.
- Go to the Accountants tab and click the Invite button.
- Enter the accountant's information.
- Click Save.
- Let your accountant undo the entire reconciliation.
Additionally, here's how to undo reconciled transactions one at a time:
- Go to Transactions and select Chart of Accounts.
- Find the account holding the transaction. Then select Account history.
- Select the transaction you want to unreconcile to expand the view.
- Review the check column. You’ll see an R if the transaction is reconciled.
- Tick the checkbox to change the letter in the box. Keep selecting it until the box is blank. It removes the transaction from the reconciliation.
- Then, hit Save.
