The GST Summary report is your comprehensive ledger. It includes all transactions for the period, showing the taxable amounts and GST components. The BAS Report, on the other hand, is what you use to report to the ATO. It will show the GST you collected on sales and the GST you paid on purchases.
Even though both reports show figures like "Amount you owe the ATO," "Amount the ATO owes you," and "Your refund amount," the calculation basis can differ. The BAS report pulls data based on your GST settings and lodgment preferences, while the GST Summary is purely transactional.
