My customers have disappeared. I'm trying to Invoice and can't find anyone.

Let's find those missing customers so you can create an invoice, @barwonlocksmith.

First, run the Customer Contact List report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to see your lists of customers in the account.

If you can no longer find the customer, use the Audit Log to see who deleted the customers in the account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Gear icon (⚙) and click on Audit Log.
  2. Select Filter and use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  3. Click on Apply.

Check out this article for more information on how to use it to keep an audit trail: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online. You can also gather information about your customers to recreate the customer's profile.

In case the customers are showing in the report, try checking the inactive customer list:

  1. On the Customers page, click the small Gear icon above Action on the right side.
  2. Click the Include Inactive checkbox.

If you see the missing customer, click the Make Active option to bring them back to the Active list.

If you still can't see them, we'll do the basic browser troubleshooting steps. Log out and log back in using a private browsing or incognito window. Here are the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

Private browsing disables the cache from saving new browsing history. If it works, here's how to clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. Restart your browser right after. You can also proceed by using other browsers if the steps above don’t work.

From here, you can now create an invoice and record payments you've received from them:
