How can I retrospectively apply a stand-alone invoice against an earlier quote?

Hi Chess Consulting Australia,

Are you wanting to create a one off invoice or do you need for it to be attached/converted from the Quote?

If the quote is still open you can convert it to an invoice however if the quote is already accepted or linked to another invoice you will not be able to do this.

To create a one off invoice this can either be done from the +New icon under Customers

Please let me know if you have any other questions at all.

How can I retrospectively apply a stand-alone invoice against an earlier quote?

Hi Rebecca,

I first created a quote. Then used it to generate a partial invoice from it. Then unintentionally created the remainder of the quote as a separate invoice, instead of going into the quote and generating an invoice for the remainder of the quoted amount. Now I want to retrospectively 'attach/apply' the second invoice against the quote to show it as invoiced in full. Is this possible?

Regards,

Adrian

Hey there, Adrian Mandile.

I'm here to share some information regarding applying the second invoice to the remaining quote in QuickBooks Online.

Applying the second invoice to the remaining quote isn't possible. You'll need to delete and re-generate the invoice from the quote.

To delete an invoice:

  1. Find the second invoice and open the transaction.
  2. Click More at the bottom and select Delete.
  3. Hit Yes to confirm.

Once deleted, you can follow the steps below to re-create the invoice from the quote.

  1. Go to your customer's profile.
  2. Under customer's Transactions List, locate and find the Quote.
  3. Click the Create invoice.
