How do you adjust physical count of inventory after stock take without editing each product individually?

Welcome to QuickBooks Community, @nadeem-ent.

That's a great question! In QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced plan, you can manually adjust an item's quantity to match what you have in stock. However, to enter the adjustment, you need to go through each product and enter a change in quantity.

It'd be nice though to have an automatic option to adjust inventory without manually editing each product. I'll pass this along and let our Product Developers know. In the meantime, you can visit our QuickBooks Online Blog to get the recent news, features, and updates about QBO and what our Product Team is working on.

I'm having the same problem - I can adjust in monetary value, but not in quantity.  Strangest thing I've ever seen.

Thank you for joining this thread, jabusser.

I've tried making an adjustment to my inventories and this is what I can see on my end.

You can perform some troubleshooting steps by logging in to your QuickBooks Online account in a private browser. Then, make an inventory adjustment from there.

If you see the Change in QTY and New QTY option, you can adjust the inventory. Once done, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies.

Outdated browsers can cause issues while QuickBooks. You can follow the steps to clear the cache for your browser.

After clearing the cache, make sure to restart your browser for changes to take effect. Then, log in to your account and check again the option.

If you're having the adjust in monetary value, but not in quantity, I recommend chatting our QuickBooks Online Live Support Team. They're open 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM (AEDT) Mon - Fri and 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM (AEDT). They can help check this for you and create a case to isolate the issue.

When everything looks good, you can make changes to your adjustment. I'm adding this link as a guide: Edit an inventory quantity adjustment. It provides detailed steps to help you with the process.

Keep me posted if you have follow-up questions about adjusting inventory in QuickBooks. I'm always right here to help you.

Can anyone tell me why, after doing a stock take, the quantities don't remain correct for long. Does a QB update revert to old quantities?

Hi J_S20,

Thanks for posting in the Community! The quantity of your inventory will increase when you create bills and will reduce if you create an expense or bills. If you haven't entered any transactions yet but the quantities change, let's do some troubleshooting on your browser.

Let's access your QuickBooks Online account using a private browser to see if we get the same result. A private browser does not store any activities, which is why it's a good idea to use it for any unexpected behaviour in the program.

Here are keyboard shortcuts you can use depending on the browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If it works well on the incognito window, kindly go back to your default browser and clear your browser’s cache. It is a good idea to clear the cache, to remove the temporary internet files and to help the application function properly. Please consider using a different browser too.

If the issue persists, please contact our Customer Support Team to further investigate this.

Feel free to post again if you have any other questions, we're here to help.
