Is anyone having issues with AMEX in QuickBooks on line

Thanks for posting here in the Community, @de_frenza

I've checked here on my end to see if there's an ongoing investigation about this, but there isn't currently one. Just to confirm, did you receive an error? This helps me provide an accurate resolution to your banking issue.

If this is a connection issue, here are the possible reasons you're unable to connect AMEX in the program:

  • The bank is having a website maintenance.
  • Unstable internet connection.
  • New security features were implemented by your bank.

To help fix this, let's make sure the internet connection is stable. Then, you'll have to manually update your account. These help you refresh the banking connection. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select Update on the Banking page.
  3. Enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials.
  4. Click Continue update.

Second, you can log in to your bank's website to check if there are alerts that need your attention. Here's how:

  1. Review for any messages, notifications, or announcements about new security requirements.
  2. If everything looks good, go back to the Banking menu.
  3. Choose the blue tile for the bank account.
  4. Click Update.

Third, you can update your bank info in the program if you make any changes on your bank’s website. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Banking from the left menu.
  2. Click the Blue tile for AMEX.
  3. Choose the Pencil icon to edit.
  4. Select Edit sign-in info
  5. Update your info.

You can go through this article for detailed steps: What To Do If Bank Transactions Won't Download. If you’re receiving any errors while updating your account, you can fix them through this link: Fix Online Banking Errors

Once downloaded, all you have to do is to approve the way the program categorises the transactions. Then, you can match them against the entries in the system. To learn more about this process, visit this helpful article: Download, Match, and Categorise Your Bank Transactions in QBO

Please know that I'm always here to help if there's anything else you need. Have a good day, @de_frenza

Yes I'm having issues with the direct connection. It doesn't appear to have an option for AMEX Australia. I try the AMEX (US) link (and tried all of them for good measure) but the US ones logs in then says it can find any accounts. It appears that AUD AMEX isn't recognised.

Hello Lindsay Cannon,

I bet you're using the words "AMEX Australia" or "AUD AMEX" when connecting your account to QuickBooks Online. Instead, you can search "American Express (Australia)". This should give you the link for AMEX Australia. You can refer to the screenshot below.

From there, you should be able to log in and connect your account to QuickBooks Online. You can use these articles as your guide to do it successfully:

Let's see how this goes. I'll get back to you if you need more assistance.
