I know a way how we can stop emailing invoices in QuickBooks Online.
We can set the delivery options to None to end the emailing of invoices.

This does not help really as I don't want to send any invoices by email. So I need to change a default in the invoice creation so that every time the invoice is not emailed.
It is not good design that every invoice needs to be emailed out of Quickbooks.
I can use my own email address each time to stop invoicing by email to customers, but that it is a clumsy solution

Thanks for posting in the Community! You can set the Preferred delivery method on your settings to Send later.
Here's how:
After you create an invoice, make sure that you've selected Save or Save and new button so invoices will not be emailed to your customers.
