How do l log off after a session, or is switching off the normal way?

I'd be glad to walk you through on how to log out from your QuickBooks Online account. 

On the upper right corner of the page, click on the circular icon next to gear. Then, click Sign out. Please see screenshot below for your reference.

Also, QuickBooks Online will automatically signs you out if you've been inactive for a period of time. The default setting is one hour but you can change it for up to 3 hours. To do that: 

1. Go to Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
2. Select Advanced.
3. Select Edit from the Other preferences section.
4. From the Sign me out if inactive for drop-down menu, select your preferred timeout duration. 
5. Select Save and Done.
