How do you remove and accountant that has access to your account?

Thank you for posting here in the Community. Let me guide you by removing your accountant in QuickBooks Online (QBO), mrlib70.

We'll need to access the Accounting firm to remove them if you no longer want an accountant to access your books. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Go to Settings on the top menu and select Manage users.
  3. Click the Accountants tab.
  4. Find the accountant you want to remove.
  5. Select the small arrow dropdown ▼ in the Action column and then Delete.
  6. Hit Delete to confirm.

To learn more about managing your accountant's access in your books: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online

Moreover, you can check out this article to learn more about the different options for user roles and access permissions: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

We are one post away if you have additional questions about removing your accountant or managing your user access in QBO. You have a good one.

How do you remove and accountant that has access to your account?

Hello, jujuell01. I'm here to ensure you can remove your accountant.

Beforehand, I'd like to know if you encounter any error messages after performing the steps above. Adding a screenshot would also be a great help, too.

In the meantime, I recommend logging out and logging back into QuickBooks Online (QBO). Doing so refreshes your account so the updates take effect.

If this isn't the case, I suggest accessing your QBO account using a private window. This way, we can determine whether this is a browser cache-related issue. The browser utilises cached data to load web pages quickly. However, excessive cache can lead to problems that impact the appearance and functionality of your account.

Using a private window helps us verify the issue since this doesn't save any data files. You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts to open an incognito window:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome browser)
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browsers
  • Command + Shift + N for Safari browser

If the accountant is removed successfully, I recommend clearing your regular browser cache. This deletes all the data from your browser and optimizes its performance. Using other supported browsers also helps us verify if this is a browser-specific issue.

However, if the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team again. Please know that our team's availability would depend on your QuickBooks plan. You can check out this article to learn more: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.

Additionally, I've added an article to help you determine the maximum number of things, like accounts or users, you can add to your QuickBooks account: Learn about usage limits in QuickBooks Online.

Finally, I highly suggest posting your QuickBooks concerns or questions on the UK QuickBooks Community page. This way, we can provide the correct information and links when assisting you.

If you need any additional assistance adding or deleting users from your QuickBooks account, I'm always available to help. Please tag me in your response to keep me updated.

You should contact Support to claim the Primary Contact. Otherwise, you may consider purchase a 3rd party service to migrate your data to a new QBO account.
