Hi there, ab25.
You can also pull up the Transaction List by Date. This report will show all the transactions within a period of time.
Check this article to learn more about customizing reports. Though, this report can only be sort by date. You can also export it to excel. From there, you can sort it in numerical order. Simply click on the Export button and select Export to excel.

Thanks for your assistance but really that was only partially successful. To be frank I'm finding after two months of using QB that in general the report function is quite disappointing. To begin with reports are so often not totaled. What's with that ? Please don't give me the export to excel line. Quite frankly that is a cop out. Why on earth should that be necessary. It beggars belief that an accounting program, or the designers thereof, cannot add up a column of figures, cannot provide a total. I don't mean to sound aggressive or rude but really that failure is a fundamental flaw and I'm quite surprised that you are not being inundated with similar complaints. Couple of other issues with banking, but I'll address that in another query. Cheers.
Just to let you know that I have come up with custom reports through Transactions by Date that do what I want though not with totals. Yes, export to Excel allows me to sort and total but my earlier winge does still apply. Nonetheless I do thank you again for your assistance.
