Class Field in Banking Does Not Stick

Why do I always have to use the gear wheel to enable this field to appear in my transactions? Why can't this setting stick?

Class Field in Banking Does Not Stick

Hello there, @fairfield- . I've got your back, and I'll help you get through this to ensure class fields stay on your Banking page, and you won't have to enable it again in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

You can perform some basic troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. I'll gladly input the process below so you can proceed. To begin, access your QBO account in an incognito or private browser.

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

Once you're in, try to perform what you're attempting to do earlier.. If it works, and the class field stays on your banking page, proceed to clear your browser's cache. See this article for the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

You can also try using other compatible browser. Refer to this article to see the list of compatible browsers in QuickBooks Online: Other browsers.

If the issue persists after performing my recommendations above, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Customer Care Team. This way, they can assign someone to look at your account and investigate to determine the root cause of why your class field needs to be enabled every time.

See this article for further guidelines: QuickBooks Online Support.

In addition, here's an article about categorising and matching bank transactions in QBO: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You can also check this page about reconciling an account in QBO: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

@fairfield-, don't hesitate to get back to me anytime if you need further assistance with this. You can also post here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. It'll be my pleasure to help you out again. Take care, and have a good one!

Class Field in Banking Does Not Stick

Thanks.  I tried what you advised but it does not work.  Whether incognito or otherwise when I log back in the class field is not there.

Class Field in Banking Does Not Stick

Hi fairfield-impex,

Appreciate you trying the troubleshooting steps provided. Let's also check your class list making sure they're active on file. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Settings icon.
  2. Click on All List.
  3. Click on Classes.
  4. Check if the class you wanted to use is showing on the active list.
  5. To view the inactive class, click on the small settings icon above ACTION and tick Include inactive.

Then, try to go back to the Banking page and categorize your transaction. You can also set a bank rule if you want to automatically assign a class on your bank feeds.

Also, for us to better assist you, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. That way, one of our support care agents can further check your account.

Post again in the Community if you have more questions.

Thanks.  I followed your instructions and clicked in the 'include inactive'.  But after having done this, class does not stick.
