I am a sole trader and pay myself super every month. How do I categorize a super contribution as a tax deductible expense? What category is best to use?

Hi Naomi Ray!

This kind of question is best to float by your accountant for their advice and guidance. If you don't have an accountant, you can look for a QuickBooks ProAdvisor who can assist you with your books who may be local to you or can assist virtually. They can also advise whether your Super Guarantee Contribution can be a tax deduction or not.

You could try creating a specific expense type so all the payments will be categorised together, there's an article on entering and managing expenses that could help you with this. Hope this helps! If you have trouble setting up and using expenses and want some more help, just reply and one of our experts can guide you through any of the elements you're trying to use.

Cheers!
