I have paid my monthly BAS and Quikbook normally records it automatically for me. But it hasn’t this month and I’m having trouble working out what category to select?!

I have paid my monthly BAS and Quikbook normally records it automatically for me. But it hasn’t this month and I’m having trouble working out what category to select?!

Hi amanda-leese87,

 

If you use the GST centre in QuickBooks Online to track and record your BAS lodgements, you firstly need to record the payment made in the GST centre. Once you have done so, you can match the payment in your bank feed to the record of payment:

 

  1. Select the GST tab.
  2. Locate the relevant BAS period and select Record Payment.
  3. Enter the date, payment account and amount, then Save.
  4. Go to the Banking tab and click on the payment to expand it.
  5. It may have already made a tentative match to the payment - if so, select Match to complete. If not, select Find Match, locate and select the payment, and Save.

 

If you do not use the GST Centre, you may like to check where you have previously categorised this transaction to. You can do so by:

 

  1. Select the Banking tab, then Reviewed.
  2. Use the date range filter as needed, and locate the last BAS payment you have recorded. You will see where you have Added it to in the past and can use this again if you choose.
