Dear Intuit, please credit your customers who are impacted by this issue. If we can’t get paid because of a QBO issue, you shouldn’t get paid either!
totally agree. why should we pay for a months subscription if our working hours are being spent on trying to find answers to a program problem that we should be spending on invoicing to get paid. if I dont get paid, they shouldn't get paid. I dont work for intuit,,., why am I tasked with finding a solution to their problem????
Hello! Thank you for actively participating in the Community thread. We understand the impact that this system performance issue is having on your business operations with QuickBooks. Please know that any inconvenience caused by this printing issue is not something we want you to experience.
We understand the relevance of performing any tasks within the program efficiently. The printing issue is occurring for users who have recently upgraded to MacOS Sonoma. recently upgraded to MacOS Sonoma. This is because Apple has removed support for certain frameworks in the latest OS upgrade. As a result, only PDFs that contain characters/fonts relying on those frameworks are affected.
There are early indications that Apple plans to address this issue in the upcoming MacOS updates, tentatively scheduled for November. However, since this is an external matter, we do not have visibility or control over the exact resolution timeline.
Please note that this issue is not specific to the QuickBooks application, and we cannot provide a fix for it. However, to get you back to business, we recommend using the following workaround:

we'll have to disagree on this one. I spent 30 minutes and 2 call to apple who say its intuit. I just got off my 3rd call to intuit (54+ minutes this time) and they say it's apple. oddly, everything else prints. as for downloading to a pdf, try again. those, too, are blank. I now must screenshot to the desktop and save to my files and print to get an actual printed invoice. they suggested sending customers a link. no. fix it. it worked fine up until 2 days ago. Im behind as it is and now more so with additional invoices piling up daily. I dont get paid, neither do you. fix it.
Get Acrobat Reader (Free), you can print the QB pdf using Reader, and not the print button on QB.
I have been doing it for a week. Extras Step, but Im working.....
Apple shoulld fix it with next update November. I hope.....
Somehow everything else is printable from my Mac. But, no worries. The issue will be addressed by Apple (maybe) in November. Until then please feel free to use the Intuit/QBO work-arounds that don’t work. But, don’t they sound like they care?
I was able tp print PDF directly from my I Pad..
** Apparently I had not updatd this device - If this works for you, I would
shut off auto uodates... for now..
Most documents I send elecronically & it seems to work, but I am not sure what
happens if sombody has QB for mac as well. ?? what will they do ??
TY. & Goof luck . Sandy
I have the same issue running Sonoma 14.0. Just called to report the issue. The investigation # for us users is not the same as the one posted above (which is for AU). US investigation # if you want to report it to get attention is: INV-93599.
Same issue.
Recent upgrade to Sonoma. opening pdf's generated in QB results in blank sections and printing with similar blank sections.
parts of the PDF print, just not the text.
I can open the file in acrobat and it looks correct. I can open it on preview in other versions of MAC OS.
it has to be a combination of the way QB prepares the PDF and how preview in Sonoma displays and prints it.
Each is at fault but Quickbooks should be able to generate their outputs so they display correctly and print correctly so we don't have to wait for a sonoma update.
Hi code4solutions,
Appreciate the feedback you have with the new MAC OS update and printing invoices in QuickBooks Online. I can definitely add this to our product feedback and let our Product Developers know of your thoughts with the Product Investigation.
I would also recommend sending your product feedback through the Gear icon in the top right corner of your home screen, under Profile click on Feedback.
In the meantime here's a workaround to use to keep you back to business. Here's how:
Or you may access QuickBooks on a Windows computer and print invoices.
Feel free to post again if you have any other questions. Have a nice day!
Great soloution??
I am sorry our planes crash.. use another airline to resolve your problem.
Or It is not ourt fault .. Boeing makes thje enginesor
I purchase & pay for QBO for or MAC -
Get to it QB it is your product you sell.
& Apple do the same .. Let's see who is a better company who cares more
to support their product.
“Customers of Intuit's QuickBooks Desktop for Mac software are still waiting for a fix for Sonoma compatibility. Company support reps acknowledge issues, but have thus far been unable to tell their users when an update will be forthcoming.” - Apple Insider, September 23, 2023
UNACCEPTABLE INTUIT/QBO! Please stop blaming Apple/Mac and get to making your product back into what we are paying for!
Apple changed their O/S
They need to Beta test before implementing. They rush products to market
& ket their useres test it ...
I should not have trusted Apple as they have has issues with QBO & Safari
in the past & they advised using Chrome. Adobe Creative Suite updates have been
buggy. Perhaps " I should have known better & not updated- "
Apple has changed.. & if you own the stock. you might look at Microsoft as an alternative.
Which is why I tried an App/Cloud based program that shoulld work across multiple platforms...
I guess I was wrong ??
The problem is NOT an Apple/Mac issue. EVERY other app I use on a daily basis has seamlessly worked with the Sonoma OS update. Do a simple Google search and you will see that this is the case.
Intuit/QBO has not done their job to provide a product that works on the OS and has taken no ownership of the issue, thereby failing to serve its paying customers. Stop blaming Apple/Mac and fix the issue!
I am having the exact same issue. I even bought a new printer thinking the printer was not compatible anymore. Need this fixed asap because this is such a nuisance.
Look through the solutions offered earlier in this thread. Instead of printing the Invoice, download it to Adobe Reader, print it and save it from there. You may need to just spend the time and figure out some variation of that short-term fix like I did. It is a pain and takes additional steps, but can work...short-term.
There is NO URGENCY shown on the part of Intuit / QBO to address this issue and to make QBO work with MacOS. They only argue that it is not a problem on their end while Mac apparently does the same. Silly me, I thought that software needs to be written in a way that it operates on a given operating system.
Actively looking for other providers that may care a bit more about their subscribers!
I agree, plus Intuit should have sent notifications to their customers about the problem rather than me finding out at the start of an artist reception that was my busiest day of the year, Idid not know why the invoices were not printing, I thought it was something I was doing wrong and I spent hours trying to fix it!
Intuit should have notified customers that there was a problem. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot during my busiest day of the year.

I have the same issue. Opening the report in Word works. This has been going on for several months so woulld be great to get a fix.
I appreciate your patience and effort in sharing those details in this thread about printing PDFs in the new MacOS version 14 (Sonoma) in QuickBooks Online, LucyIntrepid.
According to our backend team's thorough investigation, the problem is specific to users who have recently upgraded to MacOS Sonoma. Apple modified the framework support, which is required for proper PDF rendering. This has an impact on the printing of PDFs that include characters or fonts that rely on those frameworks.
While we don't have visibility into Apple's plans, there are indications that they will address this issue in upcoming MacOS updates, tentatively scheduled for November.
Also, please keep in mind that this issue isn't specific to QuickBooks Online, and we are unable to provide a direct solution. However, we want to ensure that your business can continue to run smoothly. We can recommend the following steps as a workaround:

Keep up with recent Sonoma updates from Apple
I am on 14.1.1. on my mac- Be sure yo have Preview as your ]
default viewer on Macbook etc
for a short time I used Adobe Acrobat which was a little inconvenient
Do the saame on other devices.. Seems like Apple
could not test every facet of their new programs across so many apps
Good luck ! I hope it works for you.
