The customer search bar has disappeared from display and the general search button does not work

Hello, waspath! It's great to see you make your first post here in the Community! Accessing the customer search bar is essential for tracking your daily transactions. You can count on me to guide you through the troubleshooting, ensuring you’re back to business in no time.

One possible reason for the disappearance of the search feature could be that your browser has accumulated too many cached files. QuickBooks relies on the browser's cache to function efficiently, so clearing any outdated files can help improve your viewing experience and overall system performance.

Let's start troubleshooting by pulling up your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account using a private browser (incognito). Here are the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, locate the search bar and utilize it.

If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache (The article is intended for QuickBooks Online but is also applicable to QBSE). After that, you can restart your browser and log back into your QBSE account to refresh the system.

However, if this matter continues, I recommend clicking the browser's Refresh icon (please see the screenshot below) or using other supported browsers

Additionally, each time you enter transactions into QBSE, you need to categorise them. By doing so, QuickBooks organises your income and expenses accurately and you'll know what areas in your business have the biggest impact.

I'm glad I was able to assist you today, waspath. You can always return here by commenting below if you have clarifications or questions concerning the features in QBSE. I'll make sure to respond as soon as possible. Wishing you productive and successful business operations!

I'm experiencing the same thing with the search not working. I have tried all of the advice and steps and nothing worked. Is there a glitch with the software or QBO website? When will it be fixed?
