Can anyone plse advise re the change of company structure from sole trader to company within quickbooks?

Hi we are changing company structure we obviously need to close the sole trader account at a date in time. how do we get all the stock into the new account with its purchase dates and costs ie FIFO and all the service and product codes (in the 000's) without any p

Hi willea3015,

 

You can export and import the products and services to the new QuickBooks Online file you have. On the import file, enter a specific Quantity as of date. To export the products and services:

 

  1. Click on the Gear Icon.
  2. Click on Products and services.
  3. Click on the Export icon right above the ACTION column.
  4. Save the file in your computer.

 

To import the products and services:

 

  1. Log in to the new QuickBooks file.
  2. Click on the Gear Icon.
  3. Click on Import Data.
  4. Click on Products and services.
  5. Click on browse and select the file.
  6. Follow the prompts to complete the import process.

You may need to double check the exported excel file and reformat the Excel to successfully export data to the new QuickBooks account.

so does this export and import with all the associated costing and dates within each product?  or just the account numbers in chart of accounts

Hi willea3015,

 

The exported excel file contains the Quantity as of date, sales, and purchase price too. For the file you'll import to the new QuickBooks Online account, you may have to edit the format of the file to be able to import it successfully.
