How can I lodge STP quarterly?

Hello XUAN,

In QuickBooks, we don't have the quarterly frequency for lodging STP. The ATO requires to report the pay event after every pay run.

I've got this article that provides more information about the Single Touch Payroll (STP).: Create and lodge a pay event

You can also contact the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) agency to consult if it's possible to report STP on a quarterly basis.

If you have any additional questions or other concerns, feel free to post here. Thanks.

How can I lodge STP quarterly?

Hi Rejolyn,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

As ATO give employers with less than 4 employees having option to lodge STP quarterly for 2 years (deferral periods).  In those cases, we still don't know how to lodge STP correctly via QBO.

Much appreciated for your assistance.

Regards, Xuan

How can I lodge STP quarterly?

Hi Xuan,

In QuickBooks we only have the weekly, fortnightly and monthly frequency available as you probably already know.

In this case, I suggest to not create payruns for the first 2 months of the quarter and create the payrun on the last month of the quarter.

This way, you are lodging one pay run (pay event) per quarter.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

How can I lodge STP quarterly?

Hi Joey Ann,

I have the same issue/question as Xuan.

This option you have suggested is messy, and I will have to delete all the weekly pay runs.

Is KeyPay going to add/update a solution for Quarterly reporting?

How can I lodge STP quarterly?

Hi TDVic,

I will share the idea of having option to lodge STP quarterly to the KeyPay team. That way, they can consider adding it in their future updates.

In the meantime, you can consider the workaround in the previous answers. However, you're right, you will have to go through the process of redoing your paycheques.

If you have other questions, you can always go back to this thread.
