How can I make a one off bonus payment to an employee?

Let me guide you on how you can create a bonus pay in your QuickBooks Online Payroll account. Here's how:

 

  1. Click on the New pay run button.
  2. Select the Pay schedule, pay period and pay date.
  3. Click on the employee's name.
  4. Click on Actions.
  5. Click on Add earnings.
  6. Select the Bonus pay category.

 

If you have not created a bonus pay category, we'll need to create one in your pay categories. Here's how:

 

  1. Click on the Payroll Settings.
  2. Click on Pay Categories
  3. On your list check if there is a bonus category or not.
  4. If none, click on Add.
  5. Enter name as Bonus.
  6. Click on Save.

Once done, go back to the pay run creation page and add the bonus pay. Finalise the pay run when ready and lodge them to the ATO.
