21-22 reports

I need to send my accountant reports from the 21-22 tax year and when I generate it, it comes up with zero balances. How can I get this? I have a self-employed account.

We've got some steps you can perform to run the reporting period you need in QuickBooks Online (QBO), BWill1.

We can access the Report page and run the report from 2021 to 2022. Let me guide you on how:

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, go to the Reports menu.
  2. Find the report you want to download.
  3. Choose the time period or tax year from the dropdown.
  4. Select View or Download.
  5. Press the arrow icon ▼ and then the Print or Download.

If you want a detailed list of all your transactions, you can export them into a CSV file. Here's a link that you check out for complete details about the process: Learn how to review and download transactions.

Lastly, you can visit this reference to learn more about the things that you can do in QuickBooks Self-Employed: Learn the basics of QuickBooks Self-Employed.

We are looking forward to hearing from you again, BWill1. If you have additional questions about running reports or any other QuickBooks questions, feel free to add a comment below. We are always here to help. Have a great day!

Thankyou, I have followed those instructions and it says 'this report does not contain any data'. I joined quickbooks in Jan 2021 and started sending invoices in the same month so I'm not sure why it wont generate any data? I have checked the dates I enter and everything seems to be correct. It wont generate any reports older than two years old? Is this just a self employed account issue?

We appreciate you for coming back and performing the recommended solutions to run the report you need, BWill1.

As long as you entered all the transactions on the said period, we can run a report data on it. To better isolate the issue, we can run the Profit and Loss report and customise the date from 2021 to 2022 in the Custom date section. To do that:

  1. Click on Reports from the left pane.
  2. Refer to the Profit and loss.
  3. Select the drop-down arrow and choose Custom date.
  4. Enter January 2021 as the Start date and December 2022  as the End date. If you want to have a summary for each month, just click the start and end date by month.
  5. Click on Apply.

If the same thing happens, we recommend accessing your account on a private window (incognito) and changing the date from there. There are times when the browser stores too much data that affects your account performance. Using a private window doesn’t store any data files. Thus, this helps us verify if this is a cache-related issue.

To get started, here are the keyboard shortcut keys for opening a private window depending on the browser you’re using:

  • For the Google Chrome browser, press the keys: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For the Mozilla Firefox browser, press the keys: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browse, press keys: Command + Shift + N

If it works, I recommend your regular browser's cache. This will delete all the data files saved from your browser. If the issue persists, try using other supported browsers. That way, we can check if this is a browser-integrated issue.

Additionally, you can check out this article to connect your bank and credit card accounts: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

In case you have other concerns or questions managing your transactions or any QBSE-related concerns, let me know in your reply. I’ll be around ready to help you out. Take care and have a good one, BWill1.

It still won't generate any reports prior to and including 2022 even in a private window.

Hi BWill,

Thank you for trying to generate a report on an incognito window. Can we try to check if there are any transactions showing or entered in QuickBooks Self-Employed for 2021-2022?

To do that:

  1. Go to Transactions tab.
  2. On Date: All dropdown arrow select Custom date.
  3. Select a Start date and End date.
  4. Select Apply.

Amounts showing on the reports will be based on the transactions entered from the Transactions tab. If there are any transactions showing for 2021-2022 on the Transactions tab but are not showing on your report, I would suggest contacting our QuickBooks Self-Employed support team to further investigate.

Feel free to contact us back if you need any help, BWill1. We're here to help you.
