When I search for one project, another project appears in the result, why?

We use project numbers to keep track of all our projects. eg. 1234.01 I've created projects 3307.02 & 3227.06 previously. When I search and select 3307.02, the information of 3227.06 is loaded and shown. When I try to scroll down the customer list, I couldn't find the sub-customer 3307.02. When I look through the projects list, I couldn't find the project 3307.02. The project seem to have vanished completely. What happen? How can I fix this?

When I search for one project, another project appears in the result, why?

Hi there, Caroline2019.

Since the 3307.02 won't appear in the project list, I suggest finding it using the magnifying glass. You'll see from that icon all projects you entered in your account. I attached a screenshot for visual reference.

If the issue persists, it could be someone changed or deleted the project. To verify it, I suggest going to the audit log. Take note that to open this feature, you need to sign in as an admin to access the audit log.

Here's how:

1. Click the Gear icon at the upper right corner.

2. Choose Audit Log.

3. Select the Filter drop down arrow.

4. Use the fields on the filter panel to choose the appropriate User, Date, or Events filter to narrow the results.

5. Hit the Apply button.

I suggest re-entering the 3307.02 in the project if you confirmed it was deleted or changed.

If the issue continue to occur, I recommend logging in your QuickBooks account using via a private browser. This way, you'll see if you get the same result. Browsing privately disables the cache from saving your browsing data, and it's a good way to check issues caused by a full cache. This might be also the reason the 3307.02 wont appear in the list.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

  • For Internet Explorer of Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.

  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.

  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, clear the cache of your regular browser. Doing this helps QBO to function more efficiently. You can check out this article that will provide more information: Clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files.

If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as alternatives.

Please check this article on how you can include an estimate summary from customer's invoices to let them know how much they’ve been invoiced for their projects: Add project estimate summaries to a progress invoice.

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success.

As suggested, I accessed the audit log, am presented with many transactions.

Please refer to the screenshot and let me know where I could key in 3307.02 to filter the results.

Hi there, and thank you for the screenshot, Caroline2019.

Let me add up some information to locate the missing project.

The project may have been completed, and that's why you aren't seeing it on the project list. You'll want to filter the status to see all of them. Please see the attached screenshot below for your guidance.

On the other hand, choosing Show all events under Events on the Filter page is correct. This will show the history when someone added or deleted the 3307.02.

Check out the Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online page to learn more about navigating this feature to keep track of user activities.

Let me know if you need additional information. Just tap my name, and I'll get back to you.

Thank you and stay safe!
