HI,
I need to talk to QB support not chat. I have wasted the last 2 hours with someone called Ruth on your chat support and she has no clues. Moreover its time consuming to type so much and even then its not clear to the other side.
I need a simple answer - can someone call me for support or NO?
I know that this hasn't been easy, ankur1306.
I appreciate the time and effort you've spent with one of our chat support agents. I'll take note of your experience with our customer support so we can submit proper feedback to our Management Team.
That said, I want to make it up to you in the Community space. You can post your concern here so that I can help you. We also have All-Stars and other users who hang out here in the Community and can provide the answer.
If you need to request a callback, that option is unavailable. As of now, we can reach out to our agent by live chat support which is available from M-F, 24 hours, GMT. Here's how:
Would like some assistance in running your business in QuickBooks? Let me know the details and I'll gladly lay down the solutions. Also, if you have other concerns, let me hear you out. Take care always.
Your chat support is useless. I am totally pissed off after wasting 2 hrs.
I wrote about my issue 3 times but Ruth had no answer. She said i need to check .
If you do not have phone support, i think many clients like me will dislike it and would eventually find other alternatives.
My query - I need to have the opening and closing balances in the GL in Foreign currency as well. pls help on this.
Thanks for getting back to us, ankur1306.
I'm here to make sure you'll have the opening and closing balances in the general ledger in Foreign currency.
You'll need to enter a balance upon creating an account in QuickBooks Online. However, if you've already created an account you can edit the opening balance equity. Then, in order to close the account, you must reconcile it.
Here's how to edit the equity balance:
To learn more about how opening balance works, you read this guide: Enter an opening balance for an account. I've also included an article that will help you keep your accounts balanced and up-to-date:
I’ll be around to help you whenever you have other queries. Just leave a reply in this thread and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a great day and keep safe.
Thanks for your quick reply, ankur1306.
The View register option can be seen in the US version of QuickBooks. For the International version, there's another term called the Account history. With that, you can utilize the Account history under the Action column. Please see the sample screenshot below.

Tap me on my shoulder if you need additional assistance, ankur1306. I'm right here together with my colleague to help you. Take care and have a good one.
Can someone pls advise an appropriate method of showing the opening/closing balances in Foreign currency rather than asking me to read thru length articles and spend time looking for text which is still irrelevant.
This is not the kind of support one expects from a company like QB.
Thanks for the prompt response, @ankur1306. I'm here to provide some info and ways to view the opening and closing balance in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
In QBO, we can run the Transaction Detail by Account report to easily locate the opening balance of your account. Follow these steps to proceed:
See the screenshots below for your visual reference:
Also, please keep in mind that the currency of this report depends on your home currency.
However, if you haven't entered an opening balance for your account, please refer to this article to add one: Enter an opening balance for an account in QuickBooks Online.
In addition, feel free to check out these articles below about handling banking transactions, various accounts, and other related matters.
Should you need any assistance with viewing your opening and closing balances, ankur1306, please leave a reply below. I'm always available to help. Take care!
HI,
Sorry this did not work. I need to see the opening and closing balances for my bank acct in Foreign currency.
For example I have an EUR bank acct with lets say EUR 10000 as the closing balance as on 31-Dec. and the FX rate as on 31-Dec is 1.10. So I want to see the EUR closing balance as EUR 10000 and its equivalent in USD 11000.
I appreciate the effort in sharing some details, ankur1306.
Let me give you some insights about the multicurrency feature in QuickBooks Online.
As my colleague @Kevin_C mentioned above, the currency that will show in this type of report will depend on your home currency. That said, an option to show the opening and closing balance in foreign currency is unavailable in QuickBooks Online.
I understand how this feature can be beneficial to your business and other users. You can submit feedback or any suggestions that will help us improve your experience while using QuickBooks Online.

hi Archie,
Well your answer is at least sensible, clearly stating that the function is not available in QB online. It was very much available in QB desktop as I have used that earlier. So i fail to understand why is it not available in QB Online.
So, QB doesn't have these functions, QB doesn't have phone support , the chat support doesn't know what they are talking about and keep wasting time on chat.
I just don't understand why am I even on QB? I am sure someone at QB must be getting this feedback and I hope they will act on this.
