Good to hear from you today, BSL_Ling.

To show COA numbers, you'll need to enable the option for account numbers through the Account and Settings page.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the upper right corner and choose Account and Settings.
  2. From the left panel, click Advanced.
  3. Go to the Chart of accounts.
  4. Enable account numbers and click Save.
  5. Hit Done.

Once done, go back to your Trial Balance (TB) report and check the account numbers from there.

I recommend customising the report to get the specific details you need. You can also memorise it to save its current customisation settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.

Feel free to get back to me if there's anything else I can help you with. I'll be around to keep helping. Have a good day!

Thank you!

Strangely even though my account numbers was enabled the COA number in the TB did not appear.  After I logged in and out.. the COA number is now showing.

Thank you.

Hi. I read this because I too want to see account codes in a TB report. I checked the settings described and account codes were already set to be shown although they are not shown in a TB. I've unset/reset the option but still no account codes...can anyone help please?  Many thanks.

Update to my post a few minutes ago - I'm new to QBO and I now realise that we don't have account codes configured in the CoA, hence no codes in a TB.

Hello, Julian.

Yes, you are correct. When you set up your account, you need to enter the account number in the Chart of Accounts. This will ensure the account number appears when you run the trial balance report.
