Hello, userbronwinw.
I'll show a couple of ways to delink a bank account from QuickBooks Online.
You can delink or disconnect a certain bank account by going to the Banking page. Here's how to do it:
Alternatively, you can go to the Chart of Accounts page to disconnect the account:
Here's an article for reference in case you want more details about the disconnection process: Disconnect or delete accounts connected to online banking.
If you happen to come across any difficulties categorizing your bank transactions, you can check this article for a guide: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
I'll keep this thread open in case you have more questions about managing your bank accounts or transactions in QuickBooks. If you have any other concerns, don't forget to add them to your reply. I'm here to help.
I unlinked the 2 accounts, but I would like to remove them completely from the chart of accounts. The $ balance that was in the accounts still shows up. Is making the account inactive my only option. These 2 accounts should never have been linked with this company.
Hi there, @TSJ0601.
Yes, you're right you can inactive the account since deleting the account isn't possible.
If you want to zero out the inactive account balance, you can activate it and manually delete the transactions
Here’s how:
Check out the How to delete inactive transactions that appear in the chart of accounts guide for more information. It also contains instructions on how to activate an account as well as steps to inactivate one.
We also have a guide on deleting an account to make it inactive that I'm sure you'll find helpful. It contains steps that'll walk you through the process.
