how do you split a deposit between customers

Thank you for reaching out, Debbie. While QuickBooks Online doesn’t offer a direct option to split a deposit and assign it to multiple customers automatically, you can record one transaction and allocate it to multiple customers manually using the Bank Deposit feature.

Here's how:

  1. Go to +Create and select Bank Deposit.
  2. In the Received From column, select the name of the first customer and enter the amount they contributed to the single deposit.
  3. Add another line for the next customer, enter their name in the Received From column, and input their portion of the payment.
  4. Repeat this for all customers included in the deposit.
  5. Ensure the total of all customer payments equals the deposit amount received.
  6. Save the transaction.

This process lets you assign portions of a deposit to multiple customers, so their accounts are updated correctly while the entire deposit is recorded as one transaction.

If you have more questions or need assistance with the steps, feel free to reply. I’m here to help!
