If I have error code 163 when updating my banking, what is the problem?

This is the message I get from Quickbooks. Something isn't working Sorry, we can't update your account. Please wait a few hours and try updating again (163). We reported this and will notify you when it's fixed

If I have error code 163 when updating my banking, what is the problem?

We can perform browser troubleshooting steps to resolve the error bank 163, Mark.

 

To start, please note that error code 163 indicates that your financial institution's data has changed a website and needs an update. In addition, credential keys may have changed and need to be updated.

 

This usually occurs when:

 

  • A financial institution switches its Internet service provider
  • If an incorrect login link or site is used
  • The bank website is down for scheduled maintenance or intermittently unavailable to access

 

To verify, contact your bank institution and ask them if they've switched to a different internet service provider or if there's a scheduled maintenance.

 

If they've switched to a different internet service or you've used an incorrect login link, let's disconnect and reconnect your bank account:

 

  1. In the left navigation panel, click the Transactions tab and select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the bank account that isn't connecting and click the Pencil icon.
  3. Click on Edit sign-in info.
  4. Select the Disconnect this account on the save checkbox. Then, re-enter your sign-in information for your bank account.
  5. Once done, save the information and update the bank to download new transactions.

 

If the issue persists, please contact our QuickBooks Online phone support team. They have the necessary tools and expertise to investigate the cause of this issue.

 

In the meantime, I recommend manually uploading your bank transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO) to import transactions via CSV file.
