Trying to connect QBO to Standard Bank and keep getting the long wait and then the message that the bank is not available right now. Is there a trick that I'm missing?

Hello, cjyeats.

I'll help you in resolving the online banking connection issue for your Standard Bank to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I've conducted research and checked with our engineering team and haven't found any similar issues you've encountered. Though, there are a few possible reasons why you can't connect to the bank:

  • The bank is performing system maintenance
  • There are notifications on your bank’s website that need your attention
  • The bank may not be a participating bank. You can contact the bank to request they establish a relationship with Intuit

This way, I'd suggest going to your bank's website and signing in to confirm one of the scenarios above. Also, you can contact your bank to verify if they have ongoing connection maintenance or site changes with Online Banking.

As an initial troubleshooting step, let's perform a few manual updates. Here's how:

  1. Choose Banking.
  2. Tap Update.
  3. If you still can't connect, please wait 2 or 3 hours and try again.

If you're still getting the same issue, I'd suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Online Support. Unlike in this public forum, they have the tools required to perform any escalations in the system whenever necessary on your behalf. Here's how to contact us:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_ZA/contact.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Tap your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Hit on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

In the meantime, you can manually bring the transaction into QuickBooks Online using a WebConnect file. You can download the last 90 days of transactions using this feature. For the detailed steps, check out this article: What to do if you can’t find downloaded bank transactions.

Here are additional references that you can read on how to handle downloaded transactions:

You're welcome to post again if you need further assistance with bank feeds. I'll be around to help you.
