How do I change my Accountant?

Hi Sjrprin, I’d be happy to assist you with inviting your new Accountant to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

 

Inviting your Accountant is a simple process that only requires a few steps: 

 

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Manage users.
  3. Select Accountants tab.
  4. Click Invite then enter their name and email address, then select Save.

Once you’ve sent the invitation, your accountant will receive an email notification with a link to access your QBO account. If they already have a QBO Accountant account, they’ll be able to access your company immediately. If not, they can sign up for free and gain access to all the features in your version of QuickBooks Online. Refer to this article for more information: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online.


Please also note that if your previous accountant removed your account from accountant billing, it will enter a suspended state. You’ll need to reactivate your QBO account to add a new accountant. Here’s how:

 

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Enter your new billing details to reactivate your account.
  3. Once reactivated, follow the initial steps to invite your new accountant.

 

By reactivating your account, you can take over the payment responsibility and manage your subscription independently.

 

Remember, you can add up to two accountants to your QuickBooks account, without impacting your usage limit. If you need to remove your previous accountant, just follow these simple steps:

 

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Manage users.
  3. Select the Accountants tab.
  4. Find the accountant you want to remove.
  5. From the Action column, select Delete.
  6. Select Delete to confirm.
