Can I make a Pro Forma Invoice in QBooks?

Thanks for reaching out to us, Jaco. I'll be happy to share the details about creating proforma invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

A proforma invoice is a bill of sale you send to a customer prior to delivering its products and services. It is probably more of a quote than a commercial invoice. They give your customers information about their transactions and are used at comparable stages of the sales process.

The main difference between a proforma invoice and a standard commercial invoice is that a proforma invoice is preliminary or provisional, which means its details are subject to change. That said, we can create an estimate template for your proforma invoices. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Custom Form Styles.
  2. Click New Style and choose Quote.
  3. Go to the Design tab, then enter Proforma Invoice as the new title for the form and customize the appearance of your quote. Then, click Content to modify the displayed information.
  4. Click Done.

To learn more about proforma invoices, please feel free to visit this website: What is A Proforma Invoice.

After you've setup your Pro-Forma Quote style, you can create a transaction by going to + New, then Quote. Make sure at the bottom to choose the Custom Form Style you created.

If you need to make further modifications or want to personalise your quotes and other sales forms, follow the instructions in this article: Customise invoices, quotes, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Please keep me posted on your future invoice-related concerns in QBO by mentioning my name in the comments below. I'll get back to you right away to answer your queries. Stay safe and have a great rest of the day!
