Welcome to the Community space, Noel. I've got the steps for adding your VAT to your invoices.
Let's start by turning on tax tracking:
- Go to Taxes, and select Set up tax.
- Set up the tax agency details, then select Next.
- Follow the steps to finish the setup and select Ok.
Since QuickBooks Online automatically creates default tax rates for South Africa. You can create a new one by following the steps below.
- In the Tax Centre, select Add Tax.
- Choose which type of tax rate you want to set up.
- Enter the details of your tax rate. If you need help with this screen, select the help button (yellow question mark).
- Click Save.
Once done, you can now apply the tax to your invoices:
- On the product or service line(s) that you'd like to collect sales tax for, click to select the box under the Tax column.
- Select a tax rate from the dropdown menu.
- Click Save and close.
Additionally, you can run a report to check how much VAT you owe in QuickBooks.
The Community is always here to help you with your VAT queries. Have a good one.
