I need to update my invoice look, I've done it in customizing of the invoice but it won't update it when I'm doing an invoice or quote? What can I do?

I have updated my invoices and quotes but as stated earlier, it simply will not update the invoices or quotes when I am busy with one and need to send it - it only gives me the same old fashion quote everyone starts off with

Hi there, doug.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community forum. I'm glad that you reached out to us for assistance. I'm here to help you resolve the issue you're facing so that you can continue using our platform seamlessly.

To make sure that the message appears on the invoice field when you create invoices for your customers, we need to check your invoice template settings. It's essential to ensure that the template is set as the default so that the message appears every time you create an invoice. Here are the detailed steps to follow:

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top right corner of the page.
  2. Select "Custom Form Styles" from the drop-down menu.
  3. Choose the invoice template that you want to edit and click on the "Edit" button next to it.
  4. Scroll down to the "Content" section and click the "Customize look and feel" button.
  5. Click on the "Footer" tab and make sure that the message you want to appear on the invoice field is entered in the "Message on invoice" field.
  6. Once you've made the necessary changes, click the "Done" button to save your changes.

You should now be able to create invoices with the message appearing on the invoice field every time. To ensure you set it as default, click the drop-down menu beside Edit and click the Make default.

Once confirmed, it's already set as the default invoice, and the message still does not appear on invoices. I suggest accessing your account via a private browser. There may be too much cache or data in your browser, causing the problem. Clear your browser's cache and cookies is an excellent way to address this. I'd be happy to guide you through it step-by-step:

  • Ctrl Shift for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl Shift P for Firefox
  • Control Option +if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl Shift P for Microsoft Edge

Afterwards, return to your invoice and check if the message appears on the transaction. If it's working fine, you can clear the cache of your regular browser. QuickBooks collects cache files to help you save time while browsing, but when they don't work correctly, they can cause issues like the one you're facing. On the other hand, you can use supported browsers, which are good alternatives, too.

Let me know if you need further assistance with customizing your template transaction. I'll be more than happy to help you out. Have a great day!
