Is it possible to trace the records from 2017 till to date

Yes, it's possible to trace the records of your business from 2017 to date in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @wishesbndhlovu. I'm here to guide you how.

There are groups of records that you can trace here in QBO. You maybe want to find your sales, expense, or VAT transactions from 2017 to date. QuickBooks can provide it for you. You can either search for the record manually or pull up the appropriate report.

To manually search for your transactions (i.e. sales and expenses) from 2017 to 2020, you'll have to utilise the Filter option. This way, you can easily view the complete list of the transactions you need. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales or Expenses menu.
  2. For your sales, go to the All Sales page. While for your expenses, select the Expenses tab.
  3. Select the Filter button.
  4. Choose all the necessary details.
  5. In the Date field, select the Custom option. Then, manually enter the dates in the From (i.e. 01/01/2017) and To (i.e. 18/092020) fields.
  6. Click the Apply button.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last four steps.

To pull up the appropriate sales, expense, and VAT report, just go to the Report menu's Standard tab. Once you've already open one, you'll have to select the Custom option in the Report period field. Then, manually set the date from there.

You're able to customise your reports to focus on the details that matter the most to you. Then, memorise it right after to save its current customisation settings. To learn more about it, kindly check out this article: Memorise reports in QuickBooks Online. It also contains steps about adding a memorised report to a group.

Additionally, I'm adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help Articles for QuickBooks Online. It includes topics about account management, VAT, customers and income, suppliers and expenses, and reports to name a few.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
