When trying to create an expense from a receipt, why do I get an error stating INVALID_RESOLVED_ENTITY_TYPE?

Hello there, jeannedp85.

I'll ensure you can create an expense from receipts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Excessive cache can sometimes lead to certain features malfunctioning, resulting in error messages. We can perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

If you're using  the QuickBooks mobile app, you can clear the cache by following the steps below:

For Android:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top right.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Then, click Refresh Data and tap Yes.

For iOS:

  1. Click the Menu button.
  2. Then, choose Help & Feedback.
  3. Select Refresh Data and click Refresh.

To clear cache in your phone settings:

For Android:

  1. Go to your phone's Settings.
  2. Select Apps (varies by device).
  3. Choose the QuickBooks app from the list and pick Storage, then Hit Clear data.

For iOS:

  1. From your phone's Settings, choose Settings.
  2. Click on General and choose iPhone Storage.
  3. Select an app that's taking up a lot of space.
  4. To free up the Storage without deleting the documents and data for the app,
  5. Select Offload App.

However, if you're using a web browser, please log in using a private browser or incognito window. Please use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

If you can successfully create an expense from a receipt, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. As an alternative, you can use another supported browser.

If the issue persists, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
