How do you include comparative figures for a Trial Balance? I do see that option at the Balance sheet and Profit and Loss, but not at Trial Balance.

Thanks for posting to the Community, @sharon36.

The Trial Balance report won't display comparative figures since it only shows the sum of debits and credits for every account of your business.

To include a comparison for a Trial Balance, you can run the report for two different periods and then export it to an excel format. There you can merge the two reports to compare the figures.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. On the search box, enter "Trial Balance" and then select Trial Balance.
  3. Modify the dates of the reporting period.
  4. Click Run report.
  5. Select the Export button beside the Printer icon.
  6. Select Export to Excel.

  7. Open the excel files, and then select Enable Editing.

  8. Click the first cell, press Shift on your keyboard and then click the last cell of the content.

  9. Press Ctrl+C and then paste it to the different period.

This way, you're able to compare the trial balance reports in two different periods.

You can refer to this article about exporting data which includes exporting non-posting transactions and attachments: Export reports, lists, and more.
