When I review a receipt and select a tax category the tax amount goes blank and I am not able to update the amount and finalise the review.

When I try to finalise the review I get a message that information is missing because I am not able to fill in a tax amount.

There could be several reasons why the amount goes blank, info-afrinique-c.

 

To get started, let's verify that the categories are correctly set up in the settings. If the rate and agency are incorrect, then the tax may not calculate properly. I'll walk you through the steps:

 

  1. Head to the Sales Tax Centre or VAT menu.
  2. Click Edit VAT drop-down menu.
  3. Choose Edit settings or Edit rates.
  4. Review the details and make the necessary changes.

If the same thing happens, you can review the receipts through a private or incognito window. QuickBooks Online uses cache and cookies to load the pages faster. But over time, it also gets outdated and corrupted causing unexpected behaviors. These are the shortcut keys:

 

  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

 

If that works, go back to your regular browser and clear the site data to remove the stored junk files. Switching to other supported browsers can also help further isolate the problem.
