Migration from very old Quick Books (Win 2017 - QB Accounting Pro 6) to online business starter

Hi Quick Books Community

I've advised a client that their current setup is one computer crash away from an outright business disaster. Is there an easy to way migrate everything away from a very old Win 2017 - QB Accounting Pro 6 version to the business cloud starter version?

The client only uses their accounting package for client invoicing but there are a lot of line items and some tricky debtors days apparently.

Hello, Alistair C.

I'll share the ways how to migrate your client's data from QuickBooks Accounting Pro 6 to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

For the time being, there's no direct way to migrate your client's data from QuickBooks Accounting Pro 6 to QBO. However, you can utilize a third-party migrator application/tool to do the job for you.

Otherwise, you can manually move your client's data using the Excel CSV files. To answer the most commonly asked questions about this, please see this article: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.

Once everything is all set, you may also want to check out this article as your guide in getting started with QBO: Get started with QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to drop a comment below if you have other concerns about managing your client's account in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Take care, Alistair C.
