QBO has suddenly changed its billing policy. I spoke at length wasting almost an entire half day of mine speaking with QBO representatives regarding my concern. I do not know if other users are aware. QBO is trying to force us to opt for a monthly subscription. For which we must sign in through either net banking or debit card and authorize their mandate. Basically, the NACH mandate gives QBO the authority to debit up to Rs 36,000/- [daily for the next three years] Why would QBO need such a high mandate amount. This is very deceptive and could indicate that either QBO is looking at raising its subscription fees in the coming year or they just want to keep the option of debiting up to 36,000 a day [3 years x 365 days x 36000 = 3,94,20,000] That is the kind of mandate we are submitting to QBO? Why is this necessary? Can’t QBO just provide us with a net banking option where we can either make a payment monthly without providing such kind of a mandate? Or provide us with an annual subscription fee as provided in the past. Beware this is very worrisome. And unfortunately, the support did not give much heed to my request. And was more like that is your problem. I am not able to authorize QBO to debit me such an amount as stated above... In all fairness QBO is a particularly good cloud software for accounting and I was promoting it among a lot of accountants here. but with such unfair forcible policies that the company is taking towards its customers. will make me rethink my decision of using Intuit. It is sad that the carrot is put, and we are all lured by it to oblivion. and then the true billing intentions come out. India is a place where QBO can grow using economies of scale. and in all fairness, it is a good product. but QBO also should be more customer friendly and not force customers to sign mandates of this nature. for a mere payment of Rs 200/- per month [ or at least that is what it is currently] India is a price sensitive market. In case you think I am wrong kindly check other cloud-based subscriptions. including Google 365 or any other software’s. no one does a mandate or forces you to pay only by mandate. and the option I have been provided by the support after stating my grievance at length. Were we cannot force you to subscribe, but my advice to QBO is you are forcing me not to subscribe by having such kind of authority to debit such a huge amount from my account, is it necessary? Can’t QBO just provide us with a onetime annual payment link like before? or even your bank details. where can we transfer the funds to? There is no problem in making the subscription payment, at least as it stands.... but the problem is in the authority that we would be providing the organization that if misused by any employee could end up in us being debited huge sums of money... Do give this a thought and keep your customers in mind in your billing policies.
