I have used QB desktop for 20 plus years. Because of technology changes and our data needs we were forced into QBO about 2 years ago. I Hate It!
At first I thought is was just a learning curve. Now I know for sure that the program just plain sucks.
It is not intuitive at all. Supposed "updates" often remove functionality and make the product slower to work with. It is clear that there are mid-level managers trying to justify their jobs by making changes...
Yesterday the final straw... I was reconciling checking for the business. I spent a little over two hours making entries and correcting details. The program appeared to be working normally. When I went back to the reconcile window after the final correction, I found that only three (3) of about 100 entries were recorded.
I have no idea what caused the error, however if the program worked locally and just synced to the cloud I would not have lost my work. Now I am face with a total lack of confidence in a product I already dislike.
Just venting because there is no solution to be had from Intuit. They have forgotten the small businesses
are not fans of accounting, it is a necessary evil associated with doing business, we do not enjoy it and could care less about a shiny cover on a Schidt product. Just make it work.
Intuit can simply Phuck off!
We hear your sentiments, numbering. Let me make it up to you by providing some steps to help you find those missing entries on the reconciliation page of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
Before anything else, I suggest logging into your account through a private/incognito window if you haven't tried it. The private window will not save any history, making it a good place to identify browser problems. Here's how:
Once you're in incognito mode, I suggest reviewing your audit log in your QBO account to identify if other users made modifications to your financial records and the specific entries or adjustments. I'll show you how:
You can also visit this article for more details about this feature: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.
However, if the transactions aren't deleted, another reason is that your reconciliation page is filtered to show selected transactions only. Here's how you can change the filter options on the page:
Finally, you'll also want to double-check if those entries might've been recorded under a different account. You can locate the recorded transaction and see if you have selected the correct Bank/Credit Account so it will be posted in that register.
Additionally, you can view or print your reconciliation reports for future use if you encounter trouble reconciling the following months.
I'm always here to assist if you need further assistance handling QBO transactions. I’ll be more than happy to work with you again. Keep safe!
You should switch back immediately to QB Desktop.
We cannot because of functionality required for other software products that tie into the system, or I would be LONG GONE. Thanks.
