Can i move data from an old QuickBooks account to a new one?

Hello @edithcox,

Currently, QuickBooks Online can only export and import lists, such as the following:

  • Export Reports (General ledger, Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and Journal).
  • Export Lists (Customers, Employees,)
  • Import (Bank Data, Customers, Vendors, Chart of Accounts, Products and Services, and Invoices).

That being said, you can export your lists from your old QBO and then import them to your new account. Let me walk you through how.

To export:

  1. Go to Gear, then Export data.
  2. Enable the list that you want to export. Then, click Export to Excel.
  3. Scroll down towards the bottom and open the Excel file to view the save location.

Once done, import the lists into your new QBO account by going to:

  1. Gear, and then Import data
  2. Select a list (import one list at a time).
  3. Browse the location of the exported file. Then, Open.
  4. Click Next, the follow the steps that'll guide you through the rest.

With these steps, you'll be able to move your list to your new account. You can learn about exporting at this link here: Export reports, lists, and more.

We also have a guide on moving your list and common questions about importing that I'm sure you'll find helpful.

Should you need assistance or if you have other questions or concerns, please let me know. I'd be on the look out of your reply. Thanks for joining us and have a lovely weekend.

As another option, utilize a 3rd party tool to migrate data between QBO accounts.
