In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you're only allowed one company per subscription. However, you can have multiple companies under the same QBO account. Each company file has its own paid subscription, but you access them with the same sign-in info. To learn more about this one, see the Create or add another company file to QuickBooks Online article.
If you are using QuickBooks Desktop, you can create as many separate files as you want using a single license. Just follow the steps and details in these articles:
