How do i delet an account where i have two accounts under one name..but only require one?

Hello there, @usermarabellapenteco.

You can merge this two accounts. This will remove the second account you accidentally created in your chart of accounts. I can guide you on how to do it.

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Choose the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Locate the two accounts that has the same name.
  4. Find the duplicate account (the one you won't keep).
  5. Select the dropdown ▼ in the Action column and then Edit.
  6. Change the Name and Detail Type so the duplicate account's info matches the account you want to keep exactly. If you need to mark Is sub-account, keep in mind:
    • If you’re merging two parent accounts, make sure they don’t have any sub-accounts.
    • If you’re merging two sub-accounts, make sure they both have the same parent account.
    • If only one is a sub-account, uncheck the Is sub-account option so it becomes a parent account.
  7. Click Save and then Yes to confirm.

You can read through this article to learn more how it works: Merge duplicate accounts.

However, if you're referring to your QuickBooks Online account, the ability to directly delete it automatically is not available. However, you can cancel the 2nd account and its will be stored in our database for a year. After which if you haven't re-subscribed then it will be deleted. Here's how to cancel it:

  1. Log in to the QuickBooks Online (QBO) company in question.
  2. Go to the Gear icon.
  3. Select Account and Settings
  4. Click Billing and Subscription
  5. Tap Cancel subscription.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  7. Hit Submit and cancel subscription, then Got it.

If the second QuickBooks account is still a trial subscription, you can simply let it expire. Once that happens, allow up to 60 days, then it will be deleted as well.
