Linking bank accounts with tokens

Hi Mcgarrit, welcome to the Community.

To assist you efficiently with linking your bank account using tokens, could you provide a few more details? Are you seeing any error messages when connecting? Which bank are you trying to link to, and is your question specifically about OAuth token authentication or something else? Any extra information will help us provide a targeted solution.

Linking bank accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO) using OAuth token authentication lets your bank send QuickBooks a secure token instead of storing your login credentials to access transactions. This keeps your connection active even if you change your bank details and allows QuickBooks to safely download transactions.

Many banks (such as BMO and AMEX) are switching to OAuth on their own schedules. When your bank is ready, you’ll receive an email and in-product notification, giving you about 30 days to update, and only the primary account user can authorize and complete the connection.

For more information on connecting bank accounts with OAuth tokens, please see this article: OAuth and changes to online bank connections.

Please note that this article is meant for QBO Canada account regions, but the information applies internationally.

If you have any further questions, we’re here to help.

Linking bank accounts with tokens

I am trying to link Scotia Bank in Jamaica. It requires a Scotia Bank Token to just login to the banking website. I did however get it to link - ONCE - but it hasn’t updated from that initial syncing.

Thanks for getting back to us, Mcgarrit. Let's go through a few troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with syncing your bank transactions.

First, try manually updating the connection in the banking section to refresh your transactions.

If that did not work, using a private or incognito browser can help eliminate cache-related issues that may be affecting the connection. Also, using a QuickBooks-supported browser during the process provides optimal performance and compatibility.

Lastly, I recommend logging in to the Scotia Bank Jamaica website and checking for any unread notifications. Receiving news about important updates or maintenance will help you sync effectively.

Alternatively, I recommend manually uploading your Scotiabank transactions to QBO as a temporary workaround.

Let us know if you need any assistance with completing these steps.
