You got me here to help you ensure to get your bank information into Quickbooks Online, donna-bridesbydo.

There are several reasons why you can't find or connect to your bank. Please see listed below:

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

We can utilize the Request support your bank option and asks us to add your bank. Let me guide you through the steps:

  1. When entering your bank and clicking on Find, you'll get the message: Hmm, we can't find [ name of the bank you entered ] in our list of the supported bank.
  2. Click on the button Request support for your bank.
  3. Enter your bank's website in the field provided.
  4. Select Request.

For more information, you can read it through this article: Find your bank when you connect to online banking

For now, we can manually upload your bank transactions to your QuickBooks account. You can go to your bank's website and follow the instructions on how to download them. I've listed our supported file formats below:

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
  • QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Quicken (QFX)

You follow these steps in uploading the file:

  1. Select Banking from the sidebar menu, then click the Banking tab.
  2. Hit the Upload transactions button.
  3. Click Browse, then choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Select the account you want to upload the transactions into from the QuickBooks account ▼ drop-down menu, then select Next
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions, then click Next.
  6. When you’re ready, hit Let's go.

Once done, you can go back to the Banking menu to match and categorise your bank transactions.

If I can be of any additional assistance, please don't hesitate to add a comment below. I'll be around to help.

Thanks very much for that information.

I have sent off a bank request.

In the meantime I know how to upload a csv file, but my bank csv file has 4 columns that I need yet Quickbooks only allows me to upload 3 columns.

Is there away around uploading four columns? My bank has a "description" and "memo" that has two different sets of information in there that I need to reconcile.

It's glad to have you back here, donna-bridesbydo.

Quickbooks Online can import CSV file formatted in either three (3) or four (4) columns. These are the only columns QuickBooks Online can import. Please see attached screenshots for your reference:

An acceptable three-column format:

an acceptable 4-column format

You may also consider importing your data using other supported file types like Quicken (QFX), Quickbooks Online (QBO), or Microsoft Money (OFX).

I'm also including this article about common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV for your guide.
