Unable to add bank account

I'm here to ensure you're able to add your bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @probity-mc. This way, you can manage your transactions and keep them updated.

 

When you set up online banking, you connect your bank account to automatically download your transactions. Once you're unable to add, find, or connect, you may experience either of the following scenarios with your bank:

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links.
  • Your bank doesn't connect to all types of accounts.
  • Your bank isn't a participating financial institution.

 

Once your financial institution has multiple names or might have different types of accounts but choose to only release one website for connection to QBO, I'd recommend using their URL when adding your account. This way. you're able to make sure you're using the correct listing and connect the right account.

 

You'll first have to visit your bank's website and copy the URL located at the top part of the page. Then, whenever you're ready follow these steps to add your bank account to QBO:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the Banking tab.
  3. Click Add account or Link account.
  4. In the Connect an account page, paste your bank's URL in the Enter your bank name or URL field.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to connect and complete the process.

 

After you've connected your account, your most recent transactions automatically download. All you have to do is match them to your existing entries in QBO. In case you've tried all the options to match your bank's name and still can't add, you'll have to request support for your financial institution. You can refer to this article's Step 3 for the detailed steps: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

 

Then, I'd recommend importing your bank transactions manually as an alternative. This way, you can manage your bank transactions accordingly. For the detailed steps, you can check out this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
