How can import my bank data

Welcome to QuickBooks Community, appu-m-karajegi.

You can import transactions from the linked bank account in QuickBooks using the the WebConnect feature. This is a process where you download the data from your bank's website and import them to QBO.

First, download the transactions from your bank. To do that, just login to your bank or credit card’s website and follow your bank’s instructions on how to download transactions to your computer.

Then, review the file format. You can choose either of these two format:

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
  • QuickBooks Online (QBO)

Once done, you can start uploading the transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and choose the Banking tab.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Select the Update and then File upload. Or you may see +Link account button, click it and choose Upload from file.

Here's an article for more information about the process of Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

If you want to import transactions from CVS file, you can follow the steps outlined in this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

Should you be needing more help from me, just leave a reply below. I'd be more than happy to assist. Have a great rest of the day!

How can import my bank data

Hello @CHEERLA,

Welcome to the Community. Let me share some information about importing general ledger in QuickBooks.

Currently, you can only import general ledger accounts from Excel into the system. For your transactions, you'll need to enter them manually in the register.

To import accounts:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner, then select Import data.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Download the sample file for your guide.
  4. To start the upload, press Browse
  5. Choose the file and click Open.
  6. Map your fields.
  7. Hit Next.
  8. Enter the necessary information.
  9. Click Import.

You can view the Import Data section to check the list of data you can upload directly to QuickBooks (see screenshot below). Since you can only import bank transactions, I recommend searching for a third-party application to help you import other data.

For more information, as well as how to enter opening balances for accounts in QuickBooks, I recommend the following article: Move your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to hit that Reply button if you have additional questions. Have a great day ahead.

How can import my bank data

When we try to import a bank statement (we have tried both CSV or .TXT) format we are unable to select the 'Continue' button which is grey.

On closer inspection of the code behind the scenes is fairly apparent why their might be a problem. There are over 2775 lines of error codes.

Here is a sample:

How can import my bank data

Thank you for reaching out to us, willzyba.

I'll be glad to help you with your CSV concerns.

Instead of connecting your bank and credit card account to QuickBooks, you can upload them manually. You usually download this file from your bank. Before you can upload it, you need to make sure the data is in the correct format.

We can manually upload the transactions.

If already connected to online banking.

Here's how:

  1. Select Banking. and click the Banking tab.
  2. Choose the tile of the account where to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click the Link account, then Upload from the file.
  4. Select Browse and then select the file you downloaded from your bank.
  5. Choose the account where you want to upload the transactions.
  6. Go along with the onscreen steps to match with the correct fields.
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import.
  8. Choose Yes, click Let's go.

If the account is still not connected to online banking.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the  Banking option.
  2. Select Upload transactions.
  3. Select Browse and then select the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Choose the account to where you want to upload the transactions to.
  5. Go along with the onscreen steps on the file with the correct fields.
  6. Select the transactions you would like to import.
  7. Select Yes.
  8. Click Let's Go.

You can also check on this article: Common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV  for more information about the format of the CSV file you got from your bank.
