when I created customers, the current accounts is auto-linked to Other receivables, however I could like to link to Accounts receivable. So where could change the linkage? Thanks!
Hi PIAlgw!
Thanks for posting here. Let me share something about accounts receivable.
Although you can set up multiple accounts receivable (A/R) accounts, QuickBooks Online uses a default one. This means that all A/R balances will be posted to one account only and we're unable to auto-link a customer to a different A/R account.
What we can do is create a journal entry to transfer the balances to a different A/R account. However, this procedure needs some guidance from your accountant.
Also, you'll want to use the class tracking feature to track transactions by segments. This will give you a more specific understanding of your company data.
I've added some links you can check. These will discuss more on how to handle your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online:
Post again here if you need more help. Take care always!
the issue is the customer could not link to A/R , it was linked to Other receivable. it is the strange thing. my question is why it was linked to O/R rather than A/R? Thanks!
Hello again, PIAlgw. Thanks for keeping us updated.
As mentioned by my colleague @AlexV, when creating an invoice, the Accounts Receivable (A/R) use is the default account. In your case, it could be that the default A/R was rename to Other Receivable.
To isolate the issue, let's use the Audit log tool to help trace the changes made. Here's how:
From there, see if there are some changes made to Accounts Receivable.
Here's a detailed article about this audit report: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if there's anything else you want to ask. I'll be right here if you need anything else. Have a good one!
