Hello there, rudy6.
While the option to import sales receipt is unavailable, you'll want to manually enter them in QuickBooks Online.
Here's how:

I have the same problem.
Actually no way to import sales receipts if don't want to use the third party's apps that are not free of charge.
This is BAD. E-commerce have a lot of sales that should be imported as 'sales receipts" instead of "invoice".
Manually entering sales receipts wastes a lot of time.
Which eCommerce platform do you have? You can utilize a connector to reconcile transactions and avoid duplication in QBO. You don't need to import Sales Receipts manually.
Thank you.
shopify.
I connected shopify by app and setup to transfer invoice to QB. I don't see an option to transfer as " sales receipt" to QB.
First option, explore this app to reconcile Shopify transactions than importing your Sales Receipt manually into QBO.

Thank you. So still have to "import the sales receipt' manually".

I have no problem to reconcile shopify either by its own tools or by app.
What I need is to upload the transactions as "sales receipt" to QB. The "import" function has no option of "sales receipt' but "invoice" only. Therefore must do one more step "receive payments" to close the open invoices. That is why I said it is bad for ecommerce who has heavy volume of transactions.
When an order is completed on Shopify, this app will be triggered to create a Sales Receipt on QBO automatically.

I'm not sure what region you are in, but I can import sales receipts
Hope this helps!

Hello, @deblaev
Thank you for the link. I am in Canada. Unfortunately QBO seems to have a different version here.
I have no "sales receipt" option from the selection page (Step1, #3) , it has "invoice" only.
It actually has a footnote at bottom and redirect "Sales receipt" to an app with monthly fee.
Thank you again for posting the information here.
Maggie
How can this feature be available in one region and not another? I have the same challenge (cannot import sales receipts, only invoices) in the U.S.
If you are using QBO US version, you will need an importer tool as I mentioned earlier.

Hello, m3mlapse.
I'll jump aboard and address your concern about the ability to import sales receipts in the US edition.
Each region has different updates and features (language, tax policies, and whatnot) for QuickBooks Online. While we can import sales receipts in the UK version, the ability to do so in the US edition might still be in the works in the future.
The sales receipt import feature has already benefited the UK edition users. It would be a big leap for the US version as well.
So, I would encourage sending feedback to our developers on adding this feature.
Click on the Gear icon, then select Feedback.
Our developers will read through your inputs and might consider them for the upcoming QuickBooks Online updates.
In the meantime, we can use the third-party app mentioned by Fiat Lux - ASIA. Alternatively, we can also browse for other offers here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.
Since you're the US edition, I'll add this article if you need more information about importing data: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.
If you need help utilizing the Reports feature to see your current financials, sales, and expenses, I'll add this guide for more details: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
Do you have any other concerns about your sales receipts, data, expenses, and reports? Let me know, and I'll address them accordingly.
So, am I to understand that I have to PAY a 3rd party app to import my sales receipts, with the only alternative being to manually input hundreds (or more) of these cash receipt entries per month??
My customers pre-pay for services - these payments are not converted to sales until the service has been perfomed. I am not resposible to pay the HST until the service is performed so creating invoices for these prepayments is not an option.
Customer deposits/pre-payments (In Canada) have no tax implications - tax is calculated and due only when the service or sale has taken place, so I don't understand why this is taking so long to implement.
I'm glad that you've joined the thread, Archery.
Yes, you're understanding is correct. As @jamespaul and @Fiat Lux - ASIA mentioned, we can use a zthird-party app since the sales receipt import feature isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO) in your country.
You can also browse here for third-party apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.
Also, sending feedback to our product engineers would be helpful. They might add this feature to our future product updates.
To perform this we'll need to go to the Settings icon, move your cursor to Feedback, and follow the prompt instructions.
To be in the loop of the QBO product updates, you can click this link: QuickBooks Blog.
If you have more questions about managing your sales receipt in your QBO account, feel free to reply to this thread. I'll be happy to lend a hand. Keep safe!
