When I tried to import data to QBO via Excel a lot of imported data does not match the Excel data. It's a payroll journal and has 650 lines in it. Please help on this.

I'll share information about importing data in QuickBooks Online.

Before we proceed, I would like to know more about how you import the data. Did you use a third-party application? If so, this can be the reason for the discrepancies in the data. QuickBooks Online only depends on the data imported and will only accept the data available in QuickBooks Online.

Meanwhile, payroll journal entries can be tracked by entering them manually in QuickBooks Online International as it doesn't have a payroll functionality inbuilt.

Here's a sample:

  1. Go to + New and select Journal entry.
  2. Under Date, select the paycheque date.
  3. Input Entry # for a journal entry, but this is optional.
  4. Debit and Credit accounts:
    1. Debit expense account used to track gross wages. ($4,055.00)
    2. Debit expense account used to track Employer Contribution (e.g. pension scheme). ($251.41)
    3. Credit Bank account payroll is deducted from. ($4306.41)
  5. Choose to Make recurring.
  6. Enter a Template name
    1. Type to Unscheduled; select Save Template.
