Update billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online

Learn how to change your billing info, payment method, upgrade and downgrade your subscription.

If your personal or business information changes, you need to edit it in QuickBooks so everything stays accurate. Here's how to manage billing, payment, and subscription information directly from QuickBooks Online.

Tip: Our in-product QuickBooks Digital Assistant can walk you through the process of updating your billing. Simply open the Digital Assistant, type "billing", and follow the instructions. Get started now.

Update your payment info

Follow the steps based on how you subscribed to QuickBooks Online. If you subscribed through a mobile app store, follow the steps in that section.

If you subscribed online directly through QuickBooks Online

  1. Sign in as a primary or company admin.
  2. Select Settings ⚙ in the top right, and then Account and settings.
  3. Select the Billing & Subscription tab.
  4. Select Edit ✏️ next to your payment method.
  5. Update your account info.
  6. Review your address. It must match your account details.
  7. When you're done, select Confirm card or Save.
  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin user.
  2. Ensure that pop ups are enabled for QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select Settings ⚙ in the top right, and then Account and settings.
  4. Select Billing & Subscription.
  5. Select Subscribe or Edit ✏️ next to your payment method.
  6. Fill in the bank account details and company address.
  7. Add GSTIN number (optional).
  8. Select Subscribe.
  9. Select Authenticate and then NetBanking.
  10.  Approve the banking mandate and proceed.
  11. This should take you to your bank’s website.
  12. Follow the process and enter the one-time password when required. Once payment is gone through, the details will then be saved.
Note: The mandate you are seeing for ₹ 36000.00 for a span of 3 years is to authorise access to your account as our billing is processed automatically on a monthly basis. We are following your prepaid subscription and this mandate will minimise any possible chances that the payment will get cancelled or declined. We can guarantee that if you proceed with this, you will only be charged the actual monthly fee stated on the subscription billing.
Note:From 1 April 2021, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandated Additional Factor Authentication (AFA) for recurring payments on Credit and Debit cards. This means that the setup of new recurring card payments is currently not supported by some banks. Due to a high failure rate for new card payments, we have temporarily suspended the Credit/Debit card option and any payments for QuickBooks must be made through NetBanking.
To add or update payment information to your account for the first time, you will need to select NetBanking and add your account details. While the option to add Corporate account details is unavailable, you can use a Current or Savings account.
When setting up NetBanking, you will be asked to approve a specified mandate amount. In most cases, the mandate amount will be ₹ 36000.00 for three years. This may differ depending on your bank provider. Please note, the ₹ 36000.00 is not a one-time charge. The mandate is the maximum amount of money your bank will allow to be deducted from your account over a total of 3 years.
You'll be able to switch to card payments at a future date once they are supported. We apologise for this inconvenience and understand this may cause disruption to your business. We are working to find a solution, and make additional payment options available as soon as possible.

Troubleshooting

We do our best to ensure things run smoothly, but sometimes small technical issues occur.

Below are some error messages you might see when you update billing details.

  • Something's not quite right.
  • It looks like there was a problem on our end. Select Save again.
  • Blank page/screen (unable to enter billing details).
  • Subscription-error billing.
  • The Save button is greyed out.

The good news is we can fix this. Learn more about how to fix payment issues in QuickBooks Online.
