"Estimate" included before custom subject

In my settings for Sales -> Messages -> Estimate, I have the following subject:subject-settings.jpg

However the word "Estimate" still shows in the subject of the email that is sent:subject-email.jpg

How do I fix this so that "Estimate" does not appear?

"Estimate" included before custom subject

It's good to see you here, @fislerdata,

I've updated my answer after checking this with our engineers. At the moment we have an ongoing issue regarding the word Estimate reappearing on emailed forms subject line, even after removing it from the template.

Our Team is still working to get a permanent fix for this. For now, I recommend contacting our Support Line to add your account to the notification list when an update is available.

Use the following steps to reach us or use the one from Jamespaul's answer:

  1. Go to the Help menu then select Contact us.
  2. Enter your concern in the What can we help you with? box.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down to the Choose a way to connect with us section.
  4. Choose Start messaging to initiate a discussion with a live agent or Get a call for callbacks.

To ensure you reach us successfully, call us during our support hours between 6 AM to 6 PM PT weekdays.

Let me know if there's anything you need help with QuickBooks. I'll be right here to help you in any ways I can. Have a nice day!

I don't understand what automation you're referring to? All I want is for the email subject to match what I specify in the settings, and that isn't happening. There isn't any automation being requested.

"Estimate" included before custom subject

Hello, fislerdata.

I appreciate taking the time to get back to us. I'll take it from here and give clarifications and some other details regarding the Email subject line issue.

To clarify what Jen_D said, the "Estimate" will automatically populate in the email subject line. We can change this in the Email subject line box.

This seems like an unusual behavior, so I took the initiative to find some reported issues. To clarify this further, we currently have an investigation regarding the "Estimate" word on the subject line box.

Our engineers are currently working to resolve this as soon as possible. In the meantime, you'll want to remove "Quote" and use "Estimate" to avoid confusion. Technically, a quote and an estimate have the same function in QuickBooks Online. Though, you can also leave it as it is until we resolve the issue.

I'd recommend contacting our support. They can add you to the list of affected users. Our engineers will send updates through email.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help icon, then hit the Contact Us button at the bottom.
  2. Enter "INV-46995 - affected user" in the text box.
  3. Click Let's talk.
  4. Hit Start an email

In case you need help with other QuickBooks Online tasks and workflows, you can give our articles a shot

We appreciate your patience as we work on this. Don't hesitate to leave a reply if you have other concerns regarding QuickBooks Online. Looking forward to your return soon.

Exactly.

My quotes are fixed price. So I don't want to have 'estimate' anywhere on any communications with my customers, particularly as the first word in the subject heading of the cover email for my quotes. Please fix this ASAP. It is enough to make me choose another software.

Has there been any improvement to this? It seems like a small problem that should not take 10 months to fix. My emails to customers look very unprofessional, and as someone else here said, they are NOT estimates - the are fixed price quotes.

Here's a screenshot of my inbox. Here is how the subject appears:

Experiencing this issue for long period is hard to deal with, fislerdata.

I've checked this one on our end and currently, there's no ongoing investigation about  "Estimate" included before the custom subject. There are times when a browser's cache data becomes full of frequently-accessed page resources or damaged. When this happens, odd behavior occurs when ending quotes to your customers. To better isolate this one, we can try signing in to QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

Then, try sending a sample estimate to your email. If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use a supported, up-to-date browser to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

If the same thing happens, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the upper right.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Click Let’s talk.
  5. Choose Start a chat. and type in your contact info.

Visit our QBO Help Article page to learn more about running your business in your account.

Feel free to update us on the result of this troubleshooting or after contacting our support in the comment below. I'd like to ensure this is resolved for you. You have a good one.

I sent a test quote to myself using Chrome's incognito mode. This did not resolve the issue. The subject of the email still shows as:

"Estimate - Quote Q1617 - ..."

And just to verify, here are my settings for emailing quotes. The word "Estimate" is NOT in the Email subject line and does NOT precede "Quote" yet QBO inserts it into the subject when emailing my customers.

"Estimate" included before custom subject

This is not fixed and has been a major problem for more than a year now.  This discussion thread was started way back on July 7, 2020 and it is very easy to reproduce.  The quotes I send are NOT estimates--they are fixed-price quotes that customers can issue purchase orders for immediately.  But no matter what I put in the custom subject line field, Quickbooks adds "ESTIMATE - " to the beginning of the subject line in the actual email.  Here is an example screenshot from my email client (I have invoices set to CC me):

quickbooks-online-estimate-problem-screenshot-20210708.png

None of those emails included the "ESTIMATE - " part in the subject line box when I configured them. I stuck with Quickbooks online anyway because I assumed Intuit could promptly fix something like this.  Obviously I was wrong and it's making me question whether Quickbooks Online is a tenable choice for my business going forward.
